As part of an extension to our usual surveillance activities, we have become aware of lodgements being made which breach RdSAP Convention 4.09.

 

As per this Convention, room heaters can only be considered as a main heating system where the dwelling is only heated by room heaters. As you will be aware, storage heating systems are considered as a main heating system in their own right, so should never be input with a second main system of room heaters. The room heaters would be classed as secondary heaters only.


The example on the left below shows an inappropriate use of a second main heating system with room heaters. The image on the right shows the correct application of the Convention with the room heaters as secondary heating.
