For Display Energy Certificate (DEC) renewals an energy assessor is not required to visit the site and can produce a DEC based upon energy data provided by the Building Occupier. This is providing that the energy assessor in question produced the original DEC and that nothing at the building has changed since the initial DEC site visit was completed.
In order to confirm that nothing at the building has changed the Building Occupier should provide a written statement to this effect.
Changes to a building can include:
- A change in the floor area of the building
- A change in building use
- Change in occupancy or separable energy
